Get ready for some Super Duper Darfur Negotiations

3 May

President Bashir created a higher body than the high body that was created for building peace in Darfur. The new super duper body should be following up on Peace in Darfur.

Perhaps they should call it the Mega Duper Most Gigantic body for Yayness and Peace in Darfur. Maybe that would help.

Another day at a government office, another wasted day of my life..

11 Dec

I went to issue the “Electronic” Passport today because I was told that the old passports can no longer get renewed.

I’m too exhausted and depressed to even report my sad experience. I’ll probably do so later.

But basically it is clear that civil servants have lost all traces of manners and dignity and are operating on benzine walla zift walla fa7am walla sajam walla 7aja min hatha al qabeel instead. It’s quite astonishing to think that these people are probably very nice to guests that come to their houses. They probably offer them soft drinks and smile at their faces. However, they manage to deal with fellow citizens outside of their homes as money-making-garbage. The ruder they become the more money they can milk out of money-making-garbage. But why would they think better than their superiors? A colleague at work told me that after complaining to the Minister of Interior about their low wages, his answer was “Itsarrafu!”. Believable story but you can choose not to believe it. Either way is it really any excuse?

I was informed after being at the office for about 7 hours more or less (that’s including the 4 times I was sent back and forth to work and home to bring more and more and more documents that they simply couldn’t spell out all at once), that my old passport can actually get renewed for less money and without having to bring any documents. I decided to leave the second I found out the wonderful news but before I left, I had to speak up. I could not possibly leave without giving employees a lesson in manners and fearing God. “Al-3amal 3ibada”, isn’t that what “Islamists” say?

I went to file a complaint but the Officer wasnt there (either praying or having breakfast or picking his nose only God really knows), so I left a note on his desk that just says “حسبي الله و نعم الوكيل “..

Gissat the man that doesn’t matter: Abdelmoniem Rahma

28 Nov

Abdelmoniem Rahma is a writer, a poet and a Human Rights Activist. He founded the daily “Ajras Al-Hurriya”, an “opposition” newspaper and he was close to Malik Agar, the ex-governor of the troubled Blue Nile State.

But that doesn’t matter.

Abdelmoniem Rahma is a Sudanese National.

Actually that doesn’t matter either.

Tyyib he’s a Human Being. He was arrested in September and he was sentenced to death along with 19 others 4 days ago. His trial along with 19 others was secret and took place in Sinja. But that doesn’t matter.

Abdelmoniem Rahma was arbitrarily arrested by Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) on 2 September in Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile State, one day after the resumption of fighting between the Sudanese national army and forces loyal to the northern sector of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-N). Sources confirm that this man was never armed and never took part in armed conflict. Yet he was arbitrarily arrested and tortured and his family was not informed of his whereabouts until it was announced in newspapers weeks later.

The one question that actually matters is why Rahma and 19 others have been sentenced to death?

But there’s no answer to that question.

He’s probably been accused of being a spy or a terrorist or something dumb along these lines. I wish I could get the court sentence and post it to the world as I’m sure the level of retardedness wouldn’t be anything short of impressive (as it usually is). Fact of the matter is he was arrested arbitrarily; no case back then; no case now.

Why I’m posting this

Walay al wahid ti3ib min calling for democracy and freedoms in a country where these concepts have become as foreign as snow to the Saharan desert. I’m posting this blogpost because we, Sudanese people, need to start valuing Sudanese life. We’ve already let them execute Magdy Mahjoub, Botros Girgis and many others the same way, let’s not allow this to happen again. Let this one matter. Let Sudanese life matter this time.

And given that I don’t have the freedom to do anything but to talk about things anonymously or to friends and family members, I will continue to do the one thing I can and spread the word until this man gets the attention he deserves; not as a poet or a writer or anything other than being a Sudanese National who is being unjustly executed. Let’s just hope he gets the attention before the execution is carried out and not after he’s dead.

Beeshonomics

20 Oct

Sometimes I think our President woke up one day yelling “OH MY GOD THE SOUTH SEPARATED! OMG WE JUST LOST 80%OF THE OIL”. For God’s sake, we had 6 long years since the signing of the CPA to prepare for this but what have we done?

http://www.sudantribune.com/Sudanese-president-promises-no,40475

I’ve got 3 words for him “Contingency plan fail”.

Beeshonomics: is the economic 7anak Beesh usually given by Bishbish after failing to do economic planning for crisis that is expected at least 6 yrs in advance such as secession.

Economic forecast: Eternal Recession

11 Oct

Below is a GREAT study that details the economic situation every month since the recession started in the US.

While Economists in the U.S. analyze their country’s problems, our government makes ridiculous statements based on whim and continues to spend on pointless billboards to advertise their useless meetings and conferences on the most irrelevent and ironic subjects (such as Conference on cultural diversity in Africa right after separation from the South and the Global Conference on Peace while Blue Nile and South Kordofan continue to fall apart).

This morning I read that the 1st Vice President confirms the present economic situation is temporary (Intibaha Newspaper)- Only temporary for the next 50 yrs, I say.

*sigh*
